Staff Lounge

This spring, North Middle School was gifted with a complete top to bottom remodel of our staff lounge by the Walston Group Real Estate and their professional trades partners.

 

The Walston Group has been a partner with North for many years, often providing support for families during the holidays. This past fall the Walston Group asked if there was something they could help with at North. I shared that in the fall of 2022 I received a donation of a gently used refrigerator and dishwasher that we hoped to use in the staff lounge. Unfortunately, we did not have the funds or resources to have them installed and we were going to have to re-gift them. Janelle Walston and her team asked if they could visit the school and look at the lounge. Upon seeing it, they offered to remodel it for us. They felt it was important for staff to have a welcoming environment to take their breaks and lunches.

 

Through a rigorous process, we completed all the necessary steps to proceed with the remodel. In February of 2024, we started the process. During the months of February and March, trades partners began and completed their contributions to the remodel. The first step was demoing the lounge, mail room, and the attached restroom, followed by the professional painters, flooring experts, electrical, cabinetry and counter installation, plumbing, décor, new furnishings, and the final detailed touches. The remodel was completed the last week of March with the official ribbon cutting the first week of April.

 

Our staff are eternally grateful for the amazing donation of time, talent, and funding to make this happen. For the first time, the staff lounge is enjoyed by our employees and used every day!
