Hello, and welcome to North Middle School! My name is Stephanie Leasure, and I am blessed to be the principal here at North. I have been the principal for the past year and a half, and I wake up every morning excited to be a Viking!
I am a D11 graduate, having attended Rudy Elementary, Sabin Junior High School, and Doherty High School. I was exceedingly well-prepared for college out of high school, and I graduated with a degree in English while playing college basketball. My teachers played a significant role in my career interests, and I went on to earn a masters degree right away before I started teaching and coaching at Doherty as an English teacher for 8 years. I then embarked on my journey in administration through serving in a variety of high school positions: Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, and Athletic Director before I settled here at North as a principal.
What I appreciate most about North is our committed, dedicated staff, and the diversity of our student body. I love that we have students from all over Colorado Springs, and that we represent all kinds of backgrounds, beliefs, and points-of-view. I believe in helping students grow no matter their starting point and increasing their capacity academically, socially, and civically. The International Baccalaureate model ideally fits these pursuits as our goal is to enhance community-mindedness, academic readiness, empathy, and being a balanced, reflective thinker.
If you or your child thinks North might be a fit for middle school, I challenge you to visit us. Have your student shadow one of our students or visit us for a school tour while we share with you all North has to offer. Have an excellent day and GO VIKINGS!
